Chair's Welcome

Welcome to the newly created Department of Advanced Biomedical Education (D.A.B.E.). This Department oversees the learning process of students and trainees in biomedical sciences for several schools and the Healthcare System at the University of Mississippi-Medical Center. In addition, D.A.B.E. is delivering teaching, training, and development activities to the following schools and programs:

School of Medicine, School of Dentistry, School of Graduate Studies in Health Sciences, School of Health-Related Professions, School of Nursing, Faculty Development Program, University Healthcare System, Residency Programs, and Fellowship Programs

D.A.B.E. includes a cadre of biomedical educators in the fundamental sciences, along with the office of Interprofessional, Simulation, Training, Assessment, Research and Safety (I.S.T.A.R.S.), the School of Medicine Pre-Matriculation Program and the University Body Donation Program.

The Department is committed to training future generations of healthcare professionals, scientists, and biomedical educators, bringing the learning process into the classroom and beyond with scenarios resembling real-world situations, promoting scholarly activities and research, and supporting community outreach initiatives.
